On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Visa has announced an interesting opportunity for all those who have their own contactless card. L’June 11, 2022the company will offer a full day of travel on the entire Milan metro network, as well as on lines 56, 70 and 73, to all those who use a contactless payment cardsmartphone or smartwatch (enabled for Visa contactless payment).
Taking advantage of this possibility is very simple. Visa says that to travel for free on June 11, just follow a few simple steps:
- approach the enabled turnstile (or the validator on the bus) and tap with your contactless Visa card, or with your smartphone / smartwatch
- wait a few moments for the sound confirmation and then start the journey
To exit the subway it will then be sufficient to bring the same contactless payment card, smartphone or smartwatch used previously to the enabled turnstile.
Obviously, this is an advertising initiative to promote contactless cards. However, it is certainly interesting since it will allow people to be able to move around the city of Milan by metro at no cost for a day, perhaps to discover all the news offered by the Salone del Mobile. Stefano M. StoppaniVisa Country Manager in Italy, commented:
We believe that contactless technology improves the travel experience, since it facilitates access to public transport services for everyone, both citizens and tourists. With this initiative, launched in conjunction with the last weekend of the Salone del Mobile, an event that attracts millions of visitors from all over the world, we want to show everyone how easy it is to use a contactless payment card to access mobility services. This technology also helps administrations to better plan public transport based on flows and usage by citizens.
